The partnership serves to build a strong club and gives young promising athletes the opportunity to develop and perform in athletics, road running and cross-country. The sport needs an injection of good athletes again and there are few better places to source them than in the Guguletu community!
The club is known as “RCS Gugs AC”. But more than just branding, RCS, together with the amazing Gugs Athletics club management, will be helping the club to get children to take up running as a sporting option. In addition, we will be setting up an education trust that will support juniors in their school studies. With crime being rampant in Gugs, we’re hoping that by encouraging kids to take part in sport, they’ll stay out of the drugs/gangs/criminal life.
So here’s to healthy living, here’s to breaking records – be they our personal bests or world records… and here’s to the RCS Gugulethu Athletics Club!
