Join us for a 65+km (probably more like 67) longrun on Saturday April 21.

Why 65 km and why April 21?
There are 2 well organized and great longruns planned by Durbac and Fish Hoek AC every year. I used to do the Durbanville 55 and would do a 10km before the start just to get 65 in for the day. Moving the Comrades forward really messed with Durbanville AC’s plans. The Fish Hoek one always seemed too close to Big C day and doing 56 after having done 56 only weeks earlier (at Two Oceans) seems a bit redundant. This run is 12km further (67) and April 21 feels like the perfect time for such a longrun with 6 weeks allowed for recovery.

We will start at the parking lot on Liesbeeck Parkway across Hartleyvale. The slow runners (8m/km) will start at 05:30 and the really fast guys at 07:00. Find your spot inbetween. We will have a table of water or water and goodies at 5 km intervals during the first 25kms (6,11,16,21,26), then every 4 km (30,33.5,38,41,46,50,54,58), then every few kays during the grind (60.5,63.5,65.5).

Go to this link to see the routemap: http://www.mapmyrun.com/routes/view/78330260

To cover food, water, coke and some fuel, please contribute R40 or whatever you can. If you can’t afford it, no problem, just tell us upfront, so we can have some cover for you. Also note that we cannot be held responsible for anything that happens on the day so please take every precaution on the road.

I trust that everyone will enjoy this event and many more to come.Go out and have fun with the knowledge that this is only one way of keeping fit.Enjoy the scenery and moreover the race and the atmosphere.

It is also a day whereby one goes there to cool off the nerves before the day of the big races.

Finish this off by coming to support our athletes on saturday if you are not running on the day. It is an amazing atmosphere so I suggest you come along this time and be part of these amazing events.

Our athletes need your support. We will have food for our athletes and possibly some for our club supporters. Do bring along also your cooler boxes as well. We will have our Gazebo on the stands as well same place as last year.

Last but not least, how is the training coming along I may ask. Well we will see on the day how your training was.
